A quiet city

6 Aug

Here in Toronto, it’s a holiday Monday today and the city streets have been quieter than usual on account of the mass exodus of people who headed for their cottages and cabins to enjoy a beautiful long weekend.

It’s days like these that make the polaroids by Andrea Tonelloto ring true at home. Entitled Nobody. Is anybody out there? the geometrical shapes and proportions in the photos are really quite wonderful. Coupled with the warmth in the colours, the photos makes me believe in there is a tranquil hush in the air rather than an eerie desertion. As if the city is certain that the families will return home from the cottages and reclaim the city with a refreshed spirit.

Happy long weekend friends!
